They often feature actual elements from the distant past yet anachronistically evoke possible futures and temporal slips through, their unusual material combinations and their speculative character. By appropriating stories and apparatuses from the sciences and conflating them with the oneiric, esoteric and counter-cultural, his work questions distinctions between the living and the non-living and alludes to an underlying sentience and sensitivity that exceed the human realm.</p><p>Hunter Longe has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California College of the Arts, San Francisco, and a Master of Fine Arts from Piet Zwart Institute Rotterdam. Recent solo and duo exhibitions have been at Kunstraum Memphis, Linz (2026); SALTS, Basel (2025); 427, Riga (2024); Kunsthaus Langenthal (2023); Last Tango, Zurich (2023); Sonnenstube, Lugano (20230; Et al. Gallery, San Francisco (2018); LambdaLambdaLambda, Pristina (2017); Hordaland Kunstsenter, Bergen (2017). His work has been included in group exhibitions at Bex Art Triennial, Bex (2026); MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome (2025); Lateral, Rome (2025); Centre d’art de Neuchâtel (2024); Soft Opening, London (2024); Istituto Svizzero, Rome (2022); Krone Couronne, Biel/ Bienne (2022); Smallville, Neuchâtel (2021); Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève (2021); Musée Cantonal de Géologie, Lausanne (2019). <br><br>In 2021, a book of his writing and drawings titled <em>DreamOre</em> was published by Coda Press, and he was a winner of the Swiss Art Awards. Incorporating ambient sounds captured around Halle Nord with an electromagnetic field recorder, a hydrophone, and a geophone, the performance blends these ethereal sounds, tuned and stretched, with compositions of oscillating frequencies.</p><p>8 :45 pm - Sound performance by Aio Frei and Hunter Longe</p><p>Hunter Longe and Zurich-based sound artist Aio Frei will present a new adaptation of their collaboration <em>Seemingly Solid State</em>, inspired by the formation of limestone, its living underwater origins, its use in concrete, and its dissolution.
